If you are in the Oban & Lorn area in the summer you should try to attend one of the many Highland Games that are within an easy drive – as listed below.
The Oban Games – The Argyllshire Gathering – is held the last Thursday in August and is one of the largest in Scotland and attracts international visitors and competitors to its events, many of which are for Scottish championship titles. In the solo Piping, the competitions are for World championship titles. These are the pre-eminent piping competitions in the world and the only ones of this standard still to be held in the great outdoors.
